Kate Vredevoogd is a writer, ceremonialist, herbalist and shamanic practitioner who grew up under the looming conifers of the Pacific Rainforest. After receiving B.A. degrees in both Linguistics and Spanish, she set off on an adventure to Spain, where she lived for ten years, and where she published her first two books, From the Same Quiver; A Confessional Tale of Wanderlust, Friendship, and the Pursuit of Self-Identity and Words of Wellbeing, A to Z. When her time in Europe felt complete, she flew across two oceans and moved to the island of Kaua’i, where she published her third book, With Intention; A VSED Story. As a writer, she draws inspiration from her own life experiences, sharing with open-hearted honesty and authenticity about the struggles and the beauty she encounters along the way.
“A truly amazing story about finding your true self and following your dreams. From the Same Quiver really resonated with me as it took me back to the happiest time of my life (traveling around Europe). I had never felt more alive and for the first time I had a sense of belonging. If you are a lover of travel and blending cultures, this is the book for you :)”

“With Intention; A VSED Story is a meditation on one young woman’s experience of her father’s death. Suffering from Parkinson’s disease, her father made the decision, with intention, to end his life by voluntarily stopping all eating and drinking, or VSED. This book describes this process, and Kate’s spiritual journey to better understand her father, their relationship, and ultimately his loss. Aiding Kate in her grief and recovery are the close relationships she has with her mother, cousins, aunts, and friends. She begins to explore and embrace non traditional healing techniques, and has channeled these experiences into shamanistic training in order to help others heal. I found Kate’s book to be brave, honest, and deeply introspective. Anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one, especially if from a chronic disease, can take comfort from the insights and wisdom Kate brings to her story.”

“From the Same Quiver is about a beautiful journey of self discovery, reigniting an inner spark, and friendship. Two souls intertwined and having the ability to be just as comfortable in conversation as they are in silence. A funny tale of mishaps, relations, travel and wonder. This book is for the dreamers and risk takers who embrace change and roll with the punches. I really enjoyed this book and so will you!”

“Kate has an exceptional command of words, I had read her first book (which is also great and you should check it out) but With Intention takes it to a whole new level. Raw yet intentional, emotional yet such a sense of strength. It's so honest and brutal, and yet so human and full of love. Certainly don't forget the Kleenex.”

“Words of Wellbeing is a heartening book to regenerate one's psyche within, as well as to reconnect to a joyful place in the world with all that binds us. By reading or reviewing as little or as much in one sitting, I always come away feeling rejuvenated through the creative processes of captivating illustrations and encouragement of place with nature and nurture through contemplative prose. Each alphabetized segment offers a renewal for my own personal settlement through inspiration, often boosting an affirmative perspective sometimes needed to carry on more wholly in this life.”

“Kate Vredevoogd has given us a profoundly thoughtful book, which shares deep compassion and wisdom to help us cope with the ever-changing tides of life. With Intention explores finding hope through incredible loss and grief. A beautifully written essay and powerful meditation on grief at its core, and as an extension of healing over the course of our journeys.”
